ABRSM Theory Exams
The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) require pupils taking higher grades (grade 6 onwards) complete their grade 5 theory of music examination.
I have successfully taught many pupils for this exam over the years, and have a few tricks to help you get through !
Although not required for Rockschool examinations, its a useful introduction to musical theory, and would be of interest to guitarists and other instramentalists who want to expan their knowledge of how music fits together.
The course includes some basic composition, intervals, scale construction, musical terms, notation, transposing melodies and reading from clefs.
I can also incorporate theory into guitar lessons as required, although I don't normally 'inflict' too much musical theory on my guitar pupils unless they request it ! ;-)
