Beginners Information
Learning an instrument can be quite a daunting decision. This is especially true of Guitar which can be quite a difficult instrument to begin playing.
First there is the equipment, which type and size of guitar, which books or possibly an amp. Booking an introductory lesson or two enables you to have a chat with me and find what equipment you will need before you commit to buying. I have plenty of Guitars and Amps which you can use during lessons. Some of my pupils continue to do this rather than take their own Guitar on the bus !
At first pressing the strings down with the correct pressure can be painful. Its best not to overdo things to begin with. For the first 2 to 3 weeks its best not to play for more than 10 mins at a time. If your fingers get sore, give them a rest ! After a few weeks your fingers will become hardened off and you will be able to play for much longer without pain.
I do not demand long sessions of practicing from my pupils - most are playing for enjoyment and have stressful enough lives without me adding to them ! Guitar is a fun instrument that grows on you ! Grades are optional. There is no pressure either way, and you can learn at your own pace.
Whatever music you want to play, I will try to get you playing it as soon as possible.
